On the hunt for culinary inspiration

We’re having a hot spell in London right now. I’m loving and hating it almost in equal measure. It won’t last long though so of course everyone is trying to make the most of it.

One of the things I find difficult when the weather warms up is knowing what to eat. In many ways it’s good as I don’t want to eat as much as in the colder, darker months. I’m also generally feeling uninspired when it comes to cooking, and my standard rotation of meals primarily contains comfort food and cosy meals more suited to the cooler months of the year.

My dad has had a big clear out of some of his cookbooks so I’m hoping that these will help inspire me. As if I don’t already have numerous cook books that I never look at… I’m after meals that are quick and easy, reducing the amount of time I have to spend in front of a hot oven in my claustrophobic kitchen. I also want to eat more vegetarian meals.

Back in those heady days of lockdown I was trying one new recipe a week and I’m thinking I should get back into that habit. I’ve got the weekend to flick through them and see what I find ahead of planning next week’s menu – when of course the temperature drops and the heavens open again
