Every now and then a memory will come up on social media that makes me laugh. I also find that it’s very easy in lots of situations to be able to make a Friends reference.
Four years ago we were three weeks into the first covid lockdown. It was the Easter weekend, we can’t have been able to go far and clearly had too much time on our hands. It was a Saturday and we opted to have a day of DIY.
It must have been windy as somehow the windmill that I had stuck in the balcony box had ended up stuck in a nearby the tree. This windmill must have only cost me a few pounds and it was no real loss. Normally I would have just left it and got on with my life. But when I’ve got time and little excitement in life, it’s amazing how determined I can become to face a challenge.
There was only one thing for it – we needed to fashion a large poking device to get it back!
I still remember looking around the flat for anything we could use to make the stick long enough. Three brooms and the mop handle finally did it, and I ran down to the garden to retrieve it and put it back it’s in rightful place.
There are times when I’m really grateful that I share silly moments like this on social media. Whilst I remember this moment of madness, it’s great being reminded of it in exactly the way you felt at the time.
I guess that’s why I’m trying to write more. Capturing my thoughts and feelings the moment I have them rather than relying on them to come flooding back.
