People are often surprised when I tell them that I’m an introvert – something I think I’ve always known but has been confirmed in recent years by reading more about it and understanding myself better. Yes I’m bubbly and loud, and probably don’t blend into the crowd – characteristics people often associate with an extrovert – but if people knew what was going on behind the scenes, they would see the real, introverted me.
This morning I read an article in Emerald Street that completely resonated with me – DON’T BLAME ME, IT’S JUST MY PERSONALITY TYPE
“I avoid other things, too, if possible, including parties (though I’m happy if I can just dance all night without having to talk to too many people) and phonecalls (never EVER phone me “for a chat”, I won’t answer. I might ring you back though, if it’s important. Three days later. Sorry about that). In fact, this list (scroll down) pretty much sums me up – small talk is annoying? Tick. Rarely feel alone when actually alone? Tick. Screen all calls? Tick. Does this sound familiar to anyone else?”
At the end of this week I was feeling completely worn out from a busy and enjoyable, but energy zapping week of socialising.
This coming week I’m looking forward to a week with very few plans and I intend to keep it that way. Any social plans I make will be spontaneous ones if I feel the need for it. Otherwise it will just be me, myself and I enjoying some quality alone time.
