One of the things I’m going to miss about funemployment is going to places mid week to avoid the crowds. On Friday, I met up with two of my oldest friends and their littles girls for a day at Kew Gardens to check out the orchid festival.
Armed with my new 50mm lens, and dressed up for the arctic conditions, I was ready for an attack of colour – especially as this year is themed around India. It would seem that the Princess of Wales Conservatory isn’t great for getting a buggy around and that two year olds would rather play than look at flowers, but we still managed to have a gander at the impressive display.
I’ll admit to knowing very little about plants and am certainly not green fingered – despite my mother helping me plant flowers on my balcony, they did not last… But I find nature fascinating, and once again Kew have demonstrated its power to amazing effect.
